HR 4233 (HIP 52948)

HR 4233 is an orange giant star in the constellation Sextans. At 340 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 5.85. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 42.7 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 16,600 and 24,800 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It came closest to the Sun 2.3 million years ago when it had brightened to magnitude 3.46 from a distance of 113 light years.
