20 Puppis is a yellow supergiant star in the constellation Puppis. At 863 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 4.99. The iron abundance of 20 Puppis is -0.18 (66.1% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 23.3 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 24,400 and 26,400 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It came closest to the Sun 8.0 million years ago when it had brightened to magnitude 4.19 from a distance of 598 light years.
