4 Puppis is a white subgiant star in the constellation Puppis. At 234 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 5.03. The star's age is estimated to be 800 million years but is certainly no less than 700 million years and no greater than 900 million years. The iron abundance of 4 Puppis is +0.01 (102.3% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 4.7 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 24,000 and 36,000 light years from the center of the Galaxy.
