HD 61005 is a yellow main-sequence star in the constellation Puppis. At 115 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 8.23. The iron abundance of HD 61005 is -0.14 (72.4% of the Sun). It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 27.4 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 23,400 and 25,300 light years from the center of the Galaxy. It came closest to the Sun 1.0 million years ago when it had brightened to magnitude 7.00 from a distance of 65 light years. HD 61005 has no confirmed planets known to date (July 2013), but does have a circumstellar debris disk.
